Our Mission

Hi, My name is Kelsy and I am the owner of College and Beyond Consulting. My aim is to provide Admissions and Academic Consulting to help you navigate the college application process, through college with online tutoring, and help you build the life and get the dream job out of college, with the least debt and stress possible. A little bit about my academic career:

My academic journey started as a doe eyed, optimistic freshman at Moravian College, a small Liberal Arts college in Bethlehem, PA. That school was my second home, and the lessons I learned, people I met, and experiences I had played a major part in where I am today. I learned how to manage my time, be respectful, take charge when needed, and work with different departments and personality types. I also learned effective study techniques and writing skills that got me through my early career.

If you had asked me freshman year what I wanted to be, I would have said “I’m going to be a Lawyer!” with certainty and conviction. I truly believed that. I was the debate team captain both in High School and College, led my team to many victories, a few losses, and learned how to dig deep into research, writing, and look at both points of view so that I could defend my stance vehemently. I wanted to help mothers and children suffering from abuse and I was going to change the system! My plans changed when I worked for a law firm. I saw how much stress and abuse law clerks and paralegals took, the job prospects of many lawyers, and the price of law school, as well as a few horror stories from my law classes, and decided to change gears. I took a few classes in Marketing and really liked it, I felt that I could take the skills I would use in the legal field, such as critical thinking, persuasive writing, and problem solving, and use that in Marketing. I was right, and was offered a small scholarship to travel to Disney to study their techniques and work with a small group of students to put together a retention plan for my school.

It was an amazing experience and opened my eyes to the little details that go into making a brand. From that point on, my mind was made up, I would get my Masters in Marketing. At first, I was unsure whether I would do a joint JD/ MA or PhD, and perhaps stay in law but on the marketing side, but life got in the way and I ended up scrambling in my final semester ( I graduated a semester early) to apply to schools. Thus my voyage to Florida, where I received my Masters in Integrated Marketing Communications with a certificate in Project Management *phew* sounds like a mouthful doesn’t it? It was and is. We usually shortened it to IMC in the program. I learned the most from my Project Management classes, where I got to read books like “The 7 habits of Highly Effective People”, “Management Challenges for the 21st Century”, and “Out of the Crisis”. I really enjoyed “the 7 Habits” and started thinking about how to use those concepts in my personal life. This led to many of the decisions I made after school, and how I worked, It also helped me get some insight on what I really wanted from life, from myself, and where I want to be in life.

I realized I needed to start living what I preached, and I always told my friends and students “what are you doing today that will get you where you want to be in 1 year? In 5? 10? And I started to live that. I created my Personal Mission Statement and the rest, they say, is history. I did some things right in my academic career, but I also had to learn a few hard lessons along the way. I will be be attending the University of Florida in a few short months, as I was recently accepted to their Doctorate Program in Journalism and Communications. This is a big part of my Personal Mission Statement, because continuing school and becoming a professor is a huge part of my life plan. I want to use my experience, research and resources I have gained over the last few years to help you achieve your goals. I will help you to create your Personal Mission Statement, continue to live it, and update it is needed and as life changes your plans and priorities. That is our mission and promise to you.
